Consultation and treatments provided by specialists in the Vitreoretinal Service include:

Dedicated operating rooms feature the latest in posterior segment technology including the following innovations:

  • Innovative and prototype microsurgical instrumentation for vitreous surgery
  • Vibration-free operating microscopes
  • Video recording systems
  • Viscous fluid injection systems for both silicon oils and perfluorocarbon liquids

Uveitis Services

Adult and pediatric patients with anterior segment and posterior segment ocular inflammation are evaluated and treated in the Uveitis Clinic. Glenn Jaffe, MD, from the Department of Ophthalmology and Rex McCallum, MD, from the division of rheumatology staff this service.

An evaluation consists of a comprehensive ophthalmologic examination and if necessary, comprehensive medical examination. Diagnostic services include the following:

  • Fluorescein and digital ICG angiography
  • Laboratory testing
  • Ultrasonography
  • X-ray 
  • Diagnostic vitrectomy
