Annual Residents' and Fellows' Day

Eye Center faculty, residents and fellows celebrated the culmination of a year of research at the Annual Residents’ and Fellows’ Day in AERI auditorim in June. At the two-day scientific symposium residents, fellows and Duke medical students, who participated in a one-year ophthalmology research program, presented their research papers.

Dimitri T. Azar, MD, professor and chairman in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Illinois, Chicago, was the key note speaker and presented "Corneal Angiogeneic Privilege: The Molecular Basis Of Corneal Clarity After Surgery" and "Management Of Anterior Segment Trauma". Following the two-day program, the Eye Center honored retiring faculty Banks Anderson, MD, and the graduating residents and fellows at a celebration dinner at the Levine Science Research Center.
