Background
William Rafferty, OD, serves as the Director of Optometric Services at
the Duke Eye Center where he provides patient care and has a specific
interest in external disease, allergic eye disease, and tearfilm
disorders, particularly dry eye patients. He also conducts clinics that
help coordinate the care of patients with autoimmune diseases that
affect the ocular surface including Sjogren’s syndrome. He has a great
deal of experience in the pre-operative and post-operative care of
cataract and refractive surgery patients. Rafferty is co-investigator on
a National Eye Institute grant studying methods of improving eye care in
patients with diabetes.
