Clinical Interests

Srilaxmi Bearelly, MD, a board-certified ophthalmologist, specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of medical diseases of the macula, retina, and vitreous. Areas of expertise include age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, inherited retinal dystrophies, and diseases of the peripheral retina and vitreous. She is experienced in all forms of retinal laser surgery including photodynamic therapy, laser photocoagulation, and intravitreal injections. Bearelly is involved in a variety of research activities, including clinical trials for diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration. She will be involved in the teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows and will be integrally involved in the Duke Center for Macular Degeneration.
